Brave Origin1.96.61.0

Brave Origin lets Mac users browse the web in a privacy-focused browser rather than a general-purpose alternative, with privacy as its defining distinction. It presents a minimalist version of Brave in which features included in the free Brave browser can be managed individually or removed entirely.

You can run Origin as a standalone browser with only its core experience, or apply it as an upgrade to an existing Brave app and switch available features on or off. A purchase supplies a purchase ID that can be activated across any number of devices and platforms, in standalone mode, upgrade mode, or a combination of both; for example, Origin can run separately on a desktop while upgrading Brave on a phone. The existing Brave browser remains free and fully supported for people who prefer its broader feature set or do not want to purchase Origin.

Brave Origin Beta is a stable preview with improvements and updates brought over from the Nightly channel, intended for daily use, while Origin Nightly is an early, untested build that can contain incomplete or ongoing changes and is aimed at advanced users and developers despite generally good stability. Both preview editions are offered as separate Brave browser apps for Linux, macOS, and Windows.

The MacOS release is freeware in the Internet & Browsers category, version 1.97.56.0, and requires macOS 13 Ventura or later on Apple Silicon (arm64). Brave also provides Origin free to Linux users to accommodate distributions that already disable similar features, while users on other platforms can continue hiding or disabling unwanted features; the broader project also seeks to support publishers and creators while building a sustainable business.
