Breitbandmessung3.12.1

Breitbandmessung measures the speed of a Mac’s internet connection and displays the resulting reading for the person running the check. It is the official internet speed test provided by the German Bundesnetzagentur, giving users a governmental reference point for assessing their broadband performance. The application focuses on producing a concrete connection measurement rather than offering broader browser or network-management functions.

A typical use consists of opening Breitbandmessung, starting the test, and examining the reported result for the connection at that moment. The reading provides a time-specific view of actual internet performance, which can be more useful than relying only on a general impression of slow or unreliable access. It is intended for Mac users checking their everyday connection, investigating unexpectedly poor performance, or seeking an official measurement to support a discussion about their internet service. The result can help separate a perceived slowdown from a speed observed during a particular test, while remaining tied to that testing moment.

Breitbandmessung runs on macOS and supports both Intel-based Macs and Apple Silicon systems. The current version is 3.12.1, and the software is freeware rather than a paid product.
