Use Bunch to switch between work contexts by selecting a menu item that launches applications and performs system tasks from plain-text instructions. It reads a folder of plain-text Bunch files, turning each file into a menu entry whose lines specify actions such as opening applications, loading files, opening websites, or changing settings. Its approachable syntax also supports scripts and broader macOS automation, providing a text-based alternative to AppleScript.

Users can create separate contexts for work, recording, podcasting, coding, or downtime and activate them with a couple of keystrokes. A screencast Bunch can hide the Dock, change the wallpaper, hide Desktop icons, close or hide open windows, and open a recording app, then quit applications and restore those settings when it closes. A podcast setup can open recording software and a show-notes document, set audio inputs and outputs, and pause backups before putting those arrangements back in place afterward.

For coding, Bunch can close Finder windows, open a project folder, open iTerm in the project directory, run git pull, open the project in an editor or IDE, and start a time-tracking timer. A scheduled Bunch can close Twitter and other social apps during set times, with a toggle available to launch them again. Web developers can use one to open a project in an editor, start a local web server, and create a single-site browser for monitoring changes.
