Use Captain’s menu-bar controls to see which Docker containers are running or stopped, then start or stop them without leaving your Mac desktop. It gives developers a quick way to switch between containers for different projects, including web-server containers serving ports 80 and 443. Containers are grouped automatically when their names or image names contain multiple underscores, and the arrangement works well with docker-compose projects.

Holding Control kills a container immediately instead of waiting for a graceful shutdown, although orderly stopping can serve an important purpose for some containers. Holding Command opens a container in the browser, while the OPEN_IN_BROWSER environment variable lets you define a custom URL. Holding Shift pauses or resumes a container, and holding Option copies its ID for terminal work such as building images or opening a shell. Holding Control, Option, and Command together removes a stopped container.

Captain suits Mac software developers who regularly switch between local services, project environments, and Docker command-line tasks. It is a Developer Tools program for MacOS built with Electron.
