Castr lets Mac users control broadcasts on the Castr streaming platform from a desktop application, bringing live delivery, recording, hosting, monetization, and OTT workflows together. It supports stream hosting, multistreaming, video-on-demand (VOD), and over-the-top (OTT) services, with multi-CDN delivery for distributing business-critical broadcasts. Production teams can run concurrent client events, route each feed to social networks and custom destinations, publish recordings, and manage client delivery in one place.

Media operators can combine live channels, 24/7 playout, video libraries, monetization, and branded audience experiences, while organizations in business, education, and government can deliver secure, branded, access-controlled live and on-demand video. Sports and ticketed-event teams can sell access, run advertising, protect premium streams, and publish replays for audiences on their own service. Castr supports more than 30 platforms, including custom RTMP and SRT endpoints, and can convert H.265 sources to H.264 for different audiences. Recorded material can feed always-on channels, turning live events and replays into part of a continuing service.

Every plan includes 24/7 live chat with human agents, while Enterprise customers also receive a direct engineer line through Slack and WhatsApp. Resilient delivery, monitoring, and backup ingest support the platform’s live streaming, hosting, playout, and monetization workflows. Version 3.1.0 runs on Apple Silicon Macs using the arm64 architecture with macOS 12 Monterey or later, and it is freeware.
