Arrange code, command-line work, and web content together on an infinite canvas with Cate, moving between them by panning and zooming instead of managing a collection of unrelated windows. The canvas expands as your workspace grows, allowing panels to be positioned around one another and revisited at different zoom levels.

Editor panels provide the area for writing and reviewing code, while terminal panels place command-line interaction inside the same workspace. Browser panels let you keep web pages or online reference material alongside the code and terminal content you are using. This layout is useful during development sessions that involve switching repeatedly between implementation, commands, and documentation. Zooming from an overview of the workspace into a specific panel also supports organizing large, multi-part tasks spatially.

Cate is freeware in the Developer Tools category, intended for developers who want this combined workspace on a Mac. It can suit coding, command-line experimentation, and reference-driven development where these activities need to remain visible together. The current release is version 2.0.5 and requires macOS 12 Monterey or later. Its supported build is designed for Apple Silicon using the arm64 architecture.
