CMake

CMake is an open-source family of tools for building, testing, and packaging software. It is intended for developers and software projects that need a consistent way to control the compilation process. CMake uses configuration files that are designed to remain independent of a particular platform and compiler.

From these configuration files, CMake can generate native makefiles and workspaces. These generated files can be used within the compiler environment selected by the developer. This allows a project’s build setup to be adapted to different development environments without changing the underlying configuration approach.

CMake is available for Linux and is categorized as a Developer Tools application. Its cross-platform design supports projects that may be built across different systems, while the Linux package provides access to the tools on that platform.
