Combine PDFs joins multiple PDF documents and image files into a single PDF when you drop them onto the application or its main window. Pages can be previewed, removed, and rearranged with the mouse before the result is saved, with title and other metadata available for entry. Selected pages or an entire document can be merged into a new PDF, while selected or all pages can also be split into separate files.

Files can be added through the add button, a menu command, or drag and drop, including direct insertion from Finder at a chosen position in the page list. The program can interleave pages from two PDFs, sort them by filename, or arrange them for book printing. Text overlays such as page numbers, password protection, and filters for picture compression, grayscale, and other effects are included, and custom filters can be created.

Users can adjust PDF box settings when source pages use different content, crop, or trim areas, although the default values generally suit ordinary documents. Newly created files can be opened in Preview or Adobe Reader, and saved setups can be loaded again for repeated work. The application is useful for assembling scanned records, reports, images, or booklets, and includes an English manual in the Help menu.

The current 5.6.1 release is a 64-bit macOS build for Intel and Apple Silicon, supporting OS X 10.10 through macOS 12.x; Apple Silicon support distinguishes the newer release line. Older 5.2.7 is a 32-bit build for OS X 10.7 through macOS 10.14, while 5.x works on OS X 10.7 where 4.x does not. It is listed in Productivity as freeware, though license keys can also be ordered through FastSpring or 2checkout, delivered by email within a few hours, with invoice, bank-transfer, or PayPal arrangements available through MyCommerce support and VAT applying to European Union users. French, Italian, German, and English language contributions are available, and Windows is not supported because the developer says Microsoft does not provide the required PDF libraries.
