About
Start and stop command-line tools from a central graphical interface, then watch their live output without juggling multiple terminal windows. Command Pad organizes frequently used commands such as development servers so it is clearer which services are running and which have stopped unexpectedly. Its command-entry interface lets you add tasks and manage them from one place.
It can run build and testing scripts, alert you when a script finishes, and prompt you according to whether it succeeds or fails. Output monitoring preserves the original text colors, while the interface can open URLs directly and launch command-line GUI applications such as JMeter. These features also suit developers who need to supervise several services during web development or receive completion notices for longer-running automation.
Command Pad does not replace an interactive terminal: its output window cannot accept typed input, so commands that require ongoing interaction still belong in a terminal. It is built with Electron, and its minimal disk-image size is about 35 MB. Anonymous analytics send limited usage information, including app openings, command counts, and platform details, while confidential information is not uploaded.
The current release is version 0.1.2. It runs on MacOS for both Intel and Apple Silicon, is freeware, and is listed in the Developer Tools category.
