CommandPost adds hundreds of workflow enhancements to Apple’s Final Cut Pro, giving editors more ways to control and customize post-production work. It is designed to make editing faster and more enjoyable by extending Final Cut Pro rather than replacing it.

Its control-surface support lets users operate their Mac through hardware such as Tangent panels, and the software runs natively on Apple Silicon. The application has been used by filmmakers and post-production professionals on projects associated with Netflix, Pixar, the BBC, Apple, Avid, and Adobe, including grading the 2024 and 2025 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference videos in Final Cut Pro with Tangent panels.

CommandPost suits editors, colorists, and other creative professionals who build demanding Final Cut Pro workflows, including productions that need custom tools or specialized control surfaces. Examples include Apollo: Missions to the Moon, Denmark’s Metronome Productions, Blood Red Sky, and Blood & Gold, with the Titles to Keywords Toolbox helping editors access takes and deliveries from complex scenes.

The current 2.1.0 release targets macOS on Apple Silicon (arm64). CommandPost is freeware and open source, but continued use now requires at least one paid LateNite application to be installed; it is otherwise part of the LateNite ecosystem.
