About

Contact lets Android users place calls and send messages while accessing emergency features from the same phone interface. It includes contacts, a keypad, recent activity, silent text-to-911, live video dispatch, real-time location sharing, and medical-profile relay. The app can also route requests to 988, 311, and 211 without sending users through a separate emergency workflow.

These numbered-service integrations target the United States, while emergency numbers and availability differ elsewhere. Their operation depends on the device, carrier, location, and public-safety infrastructure, making Contact useful for everyday communication and experimental emergency-scenario testing rather than as a guaranteed response channel. Contact is not a certified emergency service, medical device, or dispatch system, and it does not replace native emergency calling; use the system dialer for urgent local help.

Version 1.0.6 corrects international phone-number entry, improves screen-reader labels and navigation spacing, clarifies U.S. emergency-service availability, and removes sensitive details from messaging logs. It runs on Android 7.0 or later for arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 devices, and is open-source; third-party dependencies retain their own licenses.

The app requests access to SMS, calls, contacts, camera, microphone, and location APIs, so those permissions matter before use. Development requires Node.js 20 or newer, JDK 17 or newer, Android Studio, an Android SDK, and a physical Android device for SMS and call testing; configuration uses Expo public environment variables, with development defaulting to the nonfunctional fictional number 202-555-0100.

Requires Android 7.0+ · Architecture: arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, x86
