About

CPU-Z reads a computer’s hardware and turns it into a detailed profile of the processor, mainboard, chipset, and memory. Its CPU panel identifies the processor’s name and number, codename, manufacturing process, package, and cache levels, helping users verify exactly which chip is installed. A live frequency readout follows each core’s internal operating speed and shows how it changes while the system runs.

The mainboard panel identifies the system board and its chipset. CPU-Z reports the memory type, total capacity, and timings, while its SPD section records the specifications of each installed module. It also measures memory frequency in real time, revealing how the RAM is currently operating.

These readings help PC owners document a machine, confirm that its CPU, board, and memory match intended specifications, and check hardware before servicing. Technicians can use the utility to diagnose configurations, while enthusiasts can verify processor and memory behavior during operation. As a freeware System Tools utility from CPUID, Inc., CPU-Z runs on Windows in an x64 build.

The current version is 3.02 and directs users to CPU-Z Validator V3 for additional hardware-validation information. Its focus on direct component identification and live operating readings makes it useful as both a quick reference and a diagnostic aid.
