About

Write and run Lua programs in an ’80s-style text console, then use them outside Minecraft with CraftOS-PC Accelerated. It emulates ComputerCraft, the Minecraft mod that adds programmable computers to the game, as a standalone fantasy terminal. This lets ComputerCraft programs run in a separate environment instead of requiring a Minecraft world.

Its built-in APIs provide direct operations such as displaying text and reading files, giving beginners approachable building blocks for useful scripts. The same interface can support larger projects with relatively little code, including programs with substantial functionality. Users who are not ready to program can run existing ComputerCraft software, from simple games to complete graphical operating systems. Built-in clients for Pastebin and GitHub Gist let the emulator retrieve such programs from those services.

CraftOS-PC Accelerated is suited to new Lua programmers, ComputerCraft creators, and developers testing or using terminal programs away from the game. It runs on Linux and appears in the Developer Tools category, with open-source licensing. The current version is 2.8.3.
