Descript

Edit a recording by changing its transcript: Descript turns typed edits into corresponding cuts in the video or audio. It brings recording, instant transcription, editing, and publishing into one workspace, accepting footage, a written script, or a Zoom call as starting material.

You can copy and paste words, drag and drop sections, remove filler words and retakes with one click, and switch to a conventional timeline when needed. Its AI co-editor, Underlord, follows instructions, answers requests, and turns a raw recording into a tighter cut while you retain control through the regular editing tools. One-click tools remove background noise, enhance voices, correct eye contact, adjust lighting, and smooth jump cuts, while audio and video regeneration can repair or replace material.

Share a link for comments placed on the video, then add captions, create a thumbnail and YouTube description, and export the finished work. A single project can be translated into dozens of languages and reformatted for YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other destinations, including short clips made from long-form videos or podcasts. It suits video creators, podcasters, educators, and production teams recording interviews, calls, lessons, or social content who want recording and post-production together. Descript is freeware in the Video & Media Players category, runs on macOS on Apple Silicon (arm64), and the current release is 114.0.4-release.20250509.32955.
