About
DevCleaner scans Xcode’s generated storage and lets you inspect and remove caches that have accumulated over time, potentially reclaiming tens of gigabytes. This macOS System Tools utility is aimed at developers whose smaller SSDs are crowded by files Xcode does not routinely discard.
It identifies downloaded symbols for connected iOS, visionOS, watchOS, and tvOS devices, which can occupy about 2–5 GB for each system version; the latest version for each system is excluded from the default selection. It also examines archives containing builds, debug symbols, and related data, allowing older archives or builds that are no longer on the store to be deleted while retaining items useful for crash symbolication. Other removable data includes autocompletion information, logs, debug builds, intermediate products, documentation caches, old projects, device logs, and crash databases, much of which can be regenerated.
A scan can be repeated on a reminder schedule, making the utility useful after extended Xcode development or frequent device testing. DevCleaner relies on internal folder layouts and undocumented Xcode behavior, so newer Xcode releases may cause it to stop working; backing up before cleaning is advised.
The freeware runs on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, is currently tested with macOS 14.x and Xcode 15.x, and should also support earlier Xcode versions. The current version is 2.8.0-511, and the application is available through the Mac App Store.
Requires macOS 14 Sonoma+ · Architecture: Intel & Apple Silicon
