DrawPen0.0.58

DrawPen lets you draw directly over the contents of your screen, so a presenter can mark a slide, a trainer can highlight a control, or a support specialist can point to a problem during a live explanation. It solves the practical gap between showing something on screen and making a precise visual reference without leaving the material being discussed. Its deliberately simple approach keeps the emphasis on adding annotations to visible desktop content.

The overlay allows the underlying slide, application, or demonstration to remain in view while markings provide temporary emphasis. This suits presentations, software demonstrations, remote teaching, and guided troubleshooting where a quick visual cue is more useful than editing the original material. It is aimed at people who need to explain what is on screen as they work, rather than prepare a separate annotated document beforehand.

Version 0.0.58 requires macOS 13 Ventura or later on an Apple Silicon (arm64) Mac. DrawPen is freeware distributed under the MIT Open Source license. The project also publishes Windows and Linux builds. On some Linux systems using Wayland, including Fedora KDE Plasma and Zorin, DrawPen may terminate with a segmentation fault; using the X11 backend or the drawpen-x11 package provides the stated workaround.
