DS4 Control adds a macOS menu-bar pane for running local DeepSeek V4 and V4.1 through DwarfStar, providing a quick place to start and chat with the model. It supervises a local ds4-server child process by detecting stderr readiness, polling its health, stopping it gracefully, and reporting crashes. The selector offers V4.1 Flash, V4 Pro (0813), and V4 Flash (0731), with configurable context up to 1M and RAM feasibility checks before launch.

A native parallel downloader retrieves models with live progress and resumes transfers after restarts, while compact widgets sample unified memory, GPU, power, and CPU use on a timer. Chat opens a direct conversation, and Pi, Claude Code, or BYOC (Bring Your Own CLI) can be launched for planning, writing, maintaining, or refactoring code. Users can also configure OpenCode, Claude, Codex, or Pi for their preferred coding-agent setup and enable launch at macOS startup.

The app does not provide model search or registry browsing, and inference remains in ds4-server rather than being embedded; antirez/ds4 is included as a Git submodule. Its public model repository makes authentication optional, with no token required for normal use, and the built-in downloader obtains models for you. On first run, the Settings gear is used to select the ds4 directory containing ds4-server.

DS4 Control is freeware in the Productivity category for Apple Silicon (arm64) Macs running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, with version 1.8.2 current; it is signed with a live Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Locally built bundles use build.sh to assemble the app and detect an Apple Development identity, falling back to ad-hoc signing when none is installed.
