Use electerm to open terminals and connect to remote machines through SSH, SFTP, Telnet, serial ports, RDP, VNC, Spice, or FTP from one developer tool on Mac. Its integrated SFTP file manager supports drag-and-drop transfers and lets you double-click remote files for editing. SSH connections can use public-key or password authentication, per-session or global proxies, tunneling, agent forwarding, port forwarding, X11 forwarding, and connection hopping.

electerm can connect to OpenAI Chat Completions, OpenAI Responses, and Anthropic Messages-compatible APIs to generate or explain commands, write scripts, create bookmarks from natural-language requests, and execute tasks in Agent mode; electerm AI is free for electerm users. The MCP widget connects AI assistants and external tools, while deep links such as ssh://user@host:22 can open saved connections.

Tabbed sessions, split panes, and quick input to one or every terminal support busy workflows, and a global hotkey—Ctrl+2 by default—toggles a Guake-style drop-down window. Themes, background images, and transparent windows personalize the interface, with community translations covering more than 14 languages; Zmodem and Trzsz transfers also work with tmux. Bookmarks, themes, and quick commands can synchronize through GitHub or Gitee secret gists, WebDAV, or custom servers.

Version 5.5.66 is freeware and open-source for MacOS, requires macOS 12 Monterey or later, and runs on Apple Silicon arm64; the broader project also supports Windows 7+, macOS 10.15+, Linux with glibc 2.17+ and x64, arm64, armv7, LoongArch64, riscv64, or ppc64le architectures, plus Android, iOS, and HarmonyOS, including Ubuntu 18, UOS, and Kylin. This release adds options to show quick commands and command history in the right panel.
