Personalized discovery surfaces recommended programs, major games, and trending highlights, while SC For You creates a daily SportsCenter feed of highlights selected for the viewer. Streamcenter lets people watch a live game on their television while using the phone to follow and engage with the action in real time. The app also provides fast scores, live team and league updates, breaking news, expert analysis, ESPN Radio, and ESPN podcasts.

It suits fans checking scores during games, following several leagues, or watching live events and sports programming away from a traditional television. On Android, ESPN is a Health & Fitness app distributed as freeware, with advertising that may be targeted to user interests and Nielsen measurement software for market research such as TV Ratings; Nielsen measurement can be disabled in Settings.

The app is free to use, while a paid version adds features and certain content requires paid access: ESPN Select includes ESPN+ only, whereas ESPN Unlimited includes all ESPN networks and services, including ESPN+.
