ExcalidrawZ lets you create, open, edit, and export standard Excalidraw drawings in a native Apple client while retaining the familiar canvas. It keeps files on the device by default and adds local file management, groups, recent-work browsing, quick switching, history, search, and iCloud-aware storage for everyday projects.

You can optionally connect Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, WebDAV, or a local folder to browse, edit, manage, and synchronize Excalidraw files, including nested folders. A unified inspector keeps file history, canvas search, library browsing, and canvas preferences close to the editor. PDF import, library management, image and file export, vector PDF export, and system sharing handle common ways of moving content in and out.

Sensitive drawings and their checkpoints can be encrypted and unlocked with Touch ID, a Mac password, or a Recovery Key; visibility controls keep protected content out of AI requests. Optional AI chat and diagram generation, MCP client connections, LaTeX formulas, and function plots add capabilities beyond drawing while remaining supplementary to the core client.

The native client serves Mac, iPad, and iPhone users, and is useful for diagramming, documenting ideas, reviewing files, and sharing finished visuals. ExcalidrawZ is freeware for MacOS, supports Intel and Apple Silicon, and requires macOS 13 Ventura or newer; the current version is 2.4.3.
