Filament

Filament is an open-source Windows tool for sending files directly between devices. It uses WebRTC to establish transfers between one device and another, rather than requiring the receiving device to run a dedicated application. The other endpoint can be a terminal or a web browser at filament.autumated.com, allowing a phone or laptop to receive files without installing software.

Pairing uses one-time codes that can be spoken aloud, which supports transfers between nearby devices. Transfers can resume after an interruption or restart instead of requiring the process to begin again. Filament also shows whether traffic is using a local, direct, or relayed route, so users can see how the connection is being handled. The software can be self-hosted for setups that need to operate their own instance.

Filament fits the Windows file-transfer category while also supporting browser-based recipients on other devices.
