Generate realistic sample files in seconds, choosing a file type and an exact size for testing, demonstrations, or development work. FileFaker creates files on demand so you can validate upload restrictions, file-size limits, MIME-type detection, and other file-handling edge cases without hunting for suitable samples.

It supports more than 10 formats across documents, images, video, audio, and archives, including JSON, PDF, TXT, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, CSV, JPG, PNG, MP3, WAV, and MP4. Generated files can be used to measure upload, download, and processing performance, check how an application renders different content, load-test workflows with multiple large files, and test storage or performance code. FileFaker keeps data on the Mac rather than sending it to external servers, and it generates large files quickly.

The native macOS interface supports Dark Mode, keyboard shortcuts, and drag-and-drop to Finder, browsers, upload fields, or other applications that accept dropped files. Visual feedback during dragging helps identify the drop operation, while an always-on-top mode keeps the generator visible and can be toggled by shortcut.

Testers, developers, and product managers can use it to demonstrate file features with realistic data instead of sensitive production material, including avoiding accidental uploads of personal files. Version 1.1,37 requires macOS 13 Ventura or later and runs on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. FileFaker is freeware; a one-time paid plan includes one year of updates.
