About
FMail3 gives Mac users a dedicated native interface for reading, composing, and organizing Fastmail messages. This unofficial Fastmail client is designed for people who prefer a focused desktop workflow for email, including everyday correspondence and mail opened from other Mac applications. Offered as freeware in the System Tools category, version 2.8.0 runs on macOS 15 Sequoia or later and supports both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.
It supports multiple macOS windows and tabs, saving and restoring them automatically at launch. Keyboard shortcuts jump to tabs with ⌘ plus a number and navigate back or forward with ⌘[ and ⌘], while modifier-click combinations open or focus tabs and windows; links in a draft can open in the default browser. The Dock and menu bar display the live inbox count through Fastmail’s JMAP push connection, and native notifications include direct deletion without opening a window. Settings can make FMail3 the default email client, sending mailto: links to a pre-filled Fastmail compose window, while compose-in-window mode keeps drafting separate from the inbox.
Selecting text before Reply or Reply All quotes only that passage, and a masked email address can be created within FMail3. It copies message:// links in Fastmail and Apple Mail RFC-5322 formats, opens Fastmail links from Tools or Terminal, and supports Hookmark and Linker; emails can also be saved as clean PDFs with ⇧⌘P. Oversized attachments are uploaded automatically to Fastmail Files, shared, and inserted into the current draft with a progress chip that becomes a clickable link.
Highlighted passages reappear when their message is reopened, mailbox markers identify highlighted threads, and an option can sync a Fastmail tag to those threads. Highlights can be exported to a standalone HTML file and imported again, giving researchers and reference-focused users a portable record of saved passages.
Requires macOS 15 Sequoia+ · Architecture: Intel & Apple Silicon
