FOSDEM Companion

FOSDEM Companion is an open-source Android application for working with a FOSDEM conference program. It is intended for people who need to find sessions, review their details, and keep track of sessions they plan to attend. Instant search lets users locate sessions within the program. Schedule views support both phones and tablets and organize the program by track. A session can include full details, related links, speaker information, and a map identifying its room. A separate simple map covers the FOSDEM site. Users can add sessions to their device calendar, share links to their pages on the FOSDEM website, and manage bookmarks in the app.

Bookmarked sessions can generate notifications when they are about to start. During FOSDEM, the Live view presents a real-time-updated list of sessions that are currently running or coming up. Notification timing accounts for timezone changes and device reboots. This includes schedules downloaded or bookmarks added in another timezone, while session start times are based on Belgium.
