About
gazebo is an open-source robotics simulator for Linux, maintained by Open Robotics. It is intended for robotics users and developers who need to explore physical designs, test control strategies, and use simulation in continuous integration tests. The software supports simulation in realistic environments with high-fidelity sensor streams.
Gazebo provides high-fidelity physics, rendering, and sensor models. Users and developers can work through a graphical user interface, extend the simulator with plugins, or interact through asynchronous message passing and services. It also includes development libraries and cloud services as part of its simulation toolkit.
As a Linux Developer Tools application, gazebo is distributed through MirrorNest as a direct mirror of the official build. MirrorNest scans the build for malware before publishing it, and the software remains available under an open-source license. Linux users can install it from a terminal with snap install gazebo --edge and test the installation with gazebo.gz gazebo shapes.sdf. This release is beta software, so bugs and limitations may occur.
