HexDroid IRC1.7.8

HexDroid IRC connects to IRC networks from a phone running Android 8.0 or newer, letting people chat with friends and communities through a lightweight Material Design interface while keeping sessions available for mobile use. Designed for IRC users active across multiple networks, it provides always-connected sessions, automatic reconnection, automatic network or channel joining, and post-connect commands.

Each network can have its own profile and settings, and connections can pass through ZNC or soju bouncers. TLS supports Trust On First Use pinning, SASL offers PLAIN, EXTERNAL, and SCRAM-SHA-256 authentication, and the Android Keystore encrypts credentials. Secure Chat uses AES-256-GCM end-to-end encryption with Authenticated Group Exchange, while FiSH provides backwards compatibility; Tor and SOCKS proxy connections are also supported.

Mentions produce notifications with quick reply, alongside swipe-to-reply, inline quote previews, typing indicators, chat history, reactions, read markers, and account tags from selected IRCv3 features. Command and nickname autocomplete, colour-coded nicknames, mIRC and ANSI formatting, inline media previews, search, jump-to-unread controls, operator tools, ignore lists, and notification muting cover everyday chat management. File transfers include DCC, DCC Chat, passive and reverse DCC, Secure DCC through SSEND or SCHAT, RESUME, and IPv6.

Multiple languages, .hex scripting, per-network character encoding, custom nickname colours, and drag-and-drop network ordering allow further personalisation. JSON backup and restore, optional on-device chat logging, and the absence of ads, analytics, and tracking suit privacy-conscious IRC users; messages and credentials go only to IRC servers they select. The open-source Communication client is version 1.7.8 and supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 architectures.
