Luteal stores data in a local database by default, works offline, and requires no account, while making no medical claims or automated diagnoses. Luteal is an open-source Health & Fitness app for Android, currently at version 1.8.0 and licensed under GPLv3.

Its log covers flow intensity, pain, mood, energy, physical symptoms, and private notes, with basal body temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, disturbance markers, and thermal-shift calculations. An interactive calendar presents cycle history and long-term variability, while consultation summaries can be exported as PDF or HTML. A PIN or biometric lock protects the app, and screen masking helps keep entries private.

The Duo companion supports granular private sharing with a partner, including end-to-end encrypted support requests and contextual guidance. Optional cloud synchronization uses end-to-end encryption with self-hosted or community servers, and the software includes no ads, analytics, or trackers.

Version 1.8.0 differentiates menstrual, follicular, ovulatory-transition, and luteal phases across the calendar, separates spotting from menstrual flow, and places temperature, cervical-fluid, and LH-test records in day cells. It also adds horizontal month swiping, a quick month-and-year picker, cycle-day numbers, individual symptom chips, and a collapsible legend. Android 8.0 or later is required, with support for arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86 devices.
