Mat-O-Id lets an office or club collect payment for drinks at a shared beverage register by reading RFID tokens instead of handling coins. The setup uses an inexpensive Android tablet with USB-OTG, an RFID card reader, and reusable tokens assigned to the people buying beverages. The first token read becomes the Matmin-Token, which can change the beverage price and display the register’s current status.

The interface is intended for tablets with screens of at least seven inches and was not optimized for smaller displays. The RFID reader’s frequency must match the frequency used by the selected tokens, since readers are available in two different frequency versions. Mat-O-Id is the third beverage-machine design from its developer, retaining the same basic operating principle while using a completely new tablet-based construction built with Dart and Flutter.

The current 1.0.0 release runs on Android 4.4 or newer and supports arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, and x86_64 devices. It is open-source software for workplaces, clubs, and other groups that maintain a shared drinks cash register. An inexpensive tablet, USB-OTG support, a compatible RFID reader, and tokens are the key hardware pieces for a working installation. An unbranded edition is intended for distribution through F-Droid.
