OsmAnd~

OsmAnd~ is an open-source navigation and travel application for Android. It uses OpenStreetMap data to provide maps and navigation for use with or without an internet connection. Routes can account for preferred roads, vehicle dimensions, and inclines, while GPX tracks can be recorded offline.

The map view can show selected places such as attractions, food locations, and health services. Users can search by address, name, coordinates, or category, and can choose styles for activities including touring, nautical travel, winter and skiing, topographic use, desert travel, and off-road navigation. Relief shading, contour lines through a plug-in, and overlays from different map sources are also supported.

Navigation profiles cover cars, motorcycles, bicycles, 4x4 vehicles, pedestrians, boats, public transport, and other uses. Routes can be adjusted to exclude particular roads or road surfaces, with information widgets for values such as distance, speed, remaining travel time, and distance to a turn. Users can plan routes point by point, record and manage GPX tracks, view ascents and descents, navigate imported tracks, and share GPX tracks in OpenStreetMap.

OsmAnd~ also supports favourites, markers, audio and video notes, OpenStreetMap editing, map updates at intervals of up to one hour, a compass, a radius ruler, a Mapillary interface, a night theme, and Wikipedia information. The Maps+ extras include unlimited map downloads and Topo. The app does not collect user data, and users decide what data it can access.
