About

PlaneTxt turns a plain-text folder into a daily workspace for todos, agendas, journals, and notes, letting you read and update Markdown files directly on your Android device. You choose the folder where content is stored, or use the app’s private storage, with no database controlling the data and no lock-in to a proprietary format. Each day is represented by one file containing that day’s journal entries, todos, and events, while notes are organized in subfolders such as dailies/20250128.md, archives/, and notes/Work/project.md.

A month calendar displays the selected day’s Markdown content beneath it, and swiping moves between days; todos can be checked or unchecked with a tap. Each morning, unfinished todos from earlier days can be carried forward by moving or copying them, while the weekly review groups completed, open, and carried-over tasks alongside the week’s events. Search covers every daily file and note, ignoring accents, and notes can be searched, renamed, shared, or archived within folders.

PlaneTxt can import events from a shared .ics calendar file and save shared text as a note, while its home-screen widget presents today’s agenda and todos. Adjustable-delay local notifications provide reminders, and light and dark themes accommodate different settings. Folders can be synchronized through Syncthing, Dropbox, or another file-sync method and edited with any text editor; changes made elsewhere are detected before saving, and conflict copies are reported. In version 2.3.0, sync conflicts can also be resolved inside the app by comparing both file versions line by line and retaining the current version, the other copy, or both.

Designed for personal productivity, PlaneTxt suits people who want portable Markdown records for planning, reflection, and reference across ordinary text-editing workflows. It has no account, tracking, or network access, is open-source, and requires Android 7.0+ on arm64-v8a devices.
