RapidSplit calculates each person’s fair share of group-trip costs according to the legs they actually joined, instead of charging everyone the same flat amount. It suits kayak trips, club activities, family outings, and other travel where participants may join different parts of the route. A trip can contain separate legs such as an outbound journey, shuttle, and return, with distinct participants recorded for each one.

Travel costs can use a per-kilometre rate or fuel costs divided by each person’s kilometre share, while tolls, parking, and permits can be assigned to specific legs. Groceries and campsites support multiple payers, and foreign-currency expenses use stored daily exchange rates. Several trips can be managed at once, with optional combined balances for a club or family.

The app shows individual costs, balances, and the smallest set of transfers needed to settle who pays whom, then exports records as PDF or CSV. Trips can be shared through a QR code or six-digit code for collaborative editing; the shared copy is end-to-end encrypted on the RapidSplit server, can be deleted there, and is accessible only to invited participants. Data stays on the device by default, and the app works offline without an account, registration, tracking, or advertising.

RapidSplit is open-source under GPL-3.0 for Android, requires Android 5.0 or later, and uses Universal architecture. English and German interfaces include selectable language, theme, and default currency settings, plus light and dark modes; a guided tutorial and sample trip help new users begin. In version 4.2.2, shared trips refresh when opened, a notification and red cloud X identify a deleted server copy, and the default currency can be changed from the home-screen menu.
