RapidSplit

RapidSplit is an open-source Android finance manager for fairly settling costs from kayak trips, club activities, and other group outings. It calculates each person’s share according to the parts of a trip they actually joined, rather than applying one flat amount to everyone. It is intended for groups that need a shared record of travel and other trip expenses.

A trip can be divided into legs such as an outbound journey, a shuttle, and a return journey, with participants recorded separately for each leg. Travel costs can be settled using a per-kilometre rate or fuel costs divided according to each person’s kilometre share. Driver expenses including tolls, parking, and permits can be assigned to legs, while groceries and campsites can be shared with multiple payers. RapidSplit supports foreign currencies with stored daily rates, several trips in parallel, and optionally combined club or family balances.

The app shows costs per person, balances, and who should pay whom using the minimum number of transfers, and it can export records as PDF or CSV. People can share a trip through a QR code or six-digit code and edit it together, with the shared copy uploaded to the RapidSplit server in end-to-end encrypted form. Shared trips can be deleted from the server, and access is limited to the people invited to the trip. By default, data stays on the device, while no account, registration, tracking, or advertising is required.

RapidSplit works fully offline and is licensed as open source under GPL-3.0. Its interface is available in English and German, with selectable language, theme, and default currency, as well as light and dark modes. A step-by-step tutorial and sample trip support initial use. As an Android app in MirrorNest’s Finance Manager category, RapidSplit is distributed by mirroring the official build directly onto MirrorNest’s storage, where it is scanned for malware before publishing.
