Schulrechner lets you enter and evaluate complex equations in a calculator interface modeled on the school calculators many students already know. It presents results as fractions or decimals and understands implicit multiplication, so expressions such as 5π can be entered without an explicit multiplication sign. Calculations can be saved for reuse, while the input history lets you select and edit earlier equations.

The math.js library provides the calculation engine, and the familiar layout is designed to keep written-style mathematics readable during school and university work. Schulrechner works fully offline and is written in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS; the same codebase is also available as a website and Flatpak, with the web version installable as a progressive web app.

It is aimed at students and anyone who prefers a traditional scientific-calculator workflow, including situations where a school calculator is unavailable at home or during study. As an open-source project, it also remains accessible to web developers who want to contribute, although its web-based implementation is comparatively heavy for a calculator and the project welcomes work on lighter alternatives.

Version 1.15.0 adds percent, ON, and OFF buttons, plus a setting that can make the turn-off action close the app; it also corrects fractional results for expressions such as (19/21) / (2/7). The Android release requires Android 7.0 or later and uses a Universal architecture, while the current build remains an early work in progress with some unlabeled controls yet to be implemented and bugs that may occur frequently.
