Servo Tech Demo (Install)

Run Servo Tech Demo (Install) to examine and try Servo, a prototype web browser engine implemented in Rust for experimental browsing and web-technology evaluation. Its parallel-engine design targets developers seeking a lightweight, high-performance way to embed web technologies in applications, rather than a finished general-purpose browser.

The Servo Project Developers publish version 0.5.0 for Windows in the Internet & Browsers category, while Servo development targets 64-bit macOS, Linux, Windows, OpenHarmony, and Android. The Windows environment uses Windows 10 version 1809 or newer or Windows 11, with winget available and Visual Studio Community configured with a Windows 10/11 SDK at least 10.0.19041.0, MSVC v143 VS 2022 C++ x64/x86 build tools, and C++ ATL for v143.

Source builds use uv, rustup, the platform’s dependencies, and the appropriate mach bootstrap and mach build commands; Windows builds also produce servoshell through .\mach build. macOS development additionally uses Xcode, Homebrew, and curl, with curl available through pacman on Arch, apt on Debian or Ubuntu, dnf on Fedora, or emerge on Gentoo. Android builds use ANDROID_SDK_ROOT, ANDROID_NDK_ROOT pointing to NDK 28.2.13676358, and the latest Android command-line tools under cmdline-tools/latest.

The demo-trial license frames this release for evaluation and testing rather than unrestricted use. Documentation is provided through the Servo Book, news and guides through servo.org, and project coordination through GitHub Issues, Zulip, and advertised video calls.
