Voice and video calls are encrypted end to end, with group calls supporting up to 50 participants. Group chats can hold as many as 1,000 people, while administrator permissions control membership and who may post. Stories combine images, text, and video, disappear after 24 hours, and let you choose who can view them.

Strong end-to-end encryption protects messages and calls, and the open-source Signal Protocol is designed to keep Signal and other parties from reading messages or listening to conversations.

Version 8.24.2 completely redesigns the media editor for tablets, foldable devices, and screens of all sizes. It also lets you remove a video’s audio track with one tap before sending it, useful for silencing unwanted background noise.
