Simba Athena ODBC Driver1.3.7.10001

It lets Windows SQL client tools and other applications query Amazon Athena through an ODBC connection. Published by Simba Technologies, the x64 Simba Athena ODBC Driver provides the connector layer that lets existing ODBC-compatible software work with Athena instead of requiring a dedicated Athena interface.

The driver supports proxy-based connections and includes an optional NonProxyHost connection property for comma-separated hosts that should bypass the proxy. When a proxy is enabled, this setting is passed to the curl CURLOPT_NOPROXY option, allowing connection behavior to follow curl’s host-exclusion format. It is intended for analysts, developers, and organizations that use third-party SQL clients or applications to work with Athena data.

Athena result streaming requires outbound traffic on port 444; connections through a PrivateLink endpoint also require the endpoint’s security group to allow inbound traffic on that port. IAM principals using the driver must have the athena:GetQueryResultsStream policy action, which supports streaming for ODBC and JDBC drivers and is not exposed as a standalone API action.

Version 1.3.7.10001 adds FIPS support through a separate FIPS package, adopts Windows Visual Studio 2022 support, and lets the RStudio-branded connector document be shared in a format other than PDF. It also fixes a connection failure that could occur when a proxy server lacked its root certificate, while SQLDescribeParam remains unsupported because of an Athena data-source limitation.
