Read, sort, and send email from one offline-capable unified inbox with Sterna Mail, including messages from JMAP and IMAP accounts together. It is a private Android email client built around JMAP, the modern successor to IMAP, while retaining IMAP/SMTP support for providers that use those protocols. Conversations, type-as-you-go search, and snoozing provide practical ways to group, find, and defer messages.

You can manage multiple accounts, switch accounts by tapping the list title, and use bulk actions to take several rows off the list at once. Compose with several identities, each carrying its own signature, then undo a send or schedule it for later. Long-pressing the app icon opens a new-message action, while typed signatures preserve their line breaks.

JMAP supplies address-book suggestions and support for a plus-tagged From address. Remote images and tracking pixels are blocked by default; fingerprint or PIN protection can lock the app, and OpenPGP encryption works through a companion app such as OpenKeychain. The app has no tracking or advertisements. Accounts can be configured from only an email address when their domain publishes the necessary details, or through a manual form otherwise.

New-mail alerts can use JMAP, IMAP IDLE, or UnifiedPush without relying on Google services, and the interface is available in ten languages. Version 1.6.0 is GPLv3-licensed open-source software for Android 8.0 or later, supporting arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64, and x86. Each account now has its own notification channel, but Android does not carry over old channel settings, so check each account’s sound under App info > Notifications near the bottom; this release also fixes IMAP moves, deletes, and nested INBOX folders.
