Sublime Text lets you write and revise source code, markup, and prose in a clean, modern editor designed for programming work. Its support for many programming languages makes it useful across different development environments, from individual scripts to larger projects. Extensions and syntax-aware editing provide language-specific behavior while keeping resource usage relatively low.

File tabs, split views, the sidebar, Goto Anything, Goto Definition, and code completion work together to make moving through a project quicker. The rewritten completion engine uses existing project code, identifies the kind of each suggestion, and can link to definitions; TypeScript, JSX, and TSX receive dedicated support. The syntax engine handles multi-line constructs, lazy embeds, syntax inheritance, and non-deterministic grammars, while also reducing memory use and load times. Themes include refreshed Default and Adaptive designs, inactive-pane dimming, automatic dark-mode switching, and custom title bars on Linux and Windows.

Sublime Text can use the GPU to render its interface, supporting fluid displays up to 8K while consuming less power, and versions are available for Mac, Windows, and Linux, including Linux ARM64 builds for devices such as the Raspberry Pi. Version 4215 also provides a Python 3.8 API that remains compatible with Sublime Text 3 packages and adds capabilities used by plugins such as LSP.
