About
Play local video and audio files in VLC media player, using one desktop player for most common multimedia content. It also opens DVDs, Audio CDs, and VCDs, so physical media can be handled alongside files stored on the computer. Supported examples include H.264 video, MKV, WebM, WMV, and MP3 audio.
VLC can receive media from webcams and other devices, as well as play streams delivered through various network streaming protocols. Its playback support covers most codecs directly, without relying on separate codec packs for those formats. Beyond playback, VLC serves as a cross-platform multimedia framework for handling media from different sources. It suits everyday listening and viewing, home media collections, disc playback, webcam use, and network-delivered content.
The current 3.0.23 release is built for x64 systems running Windows 7 or later, or Server 2008 R2 or later. VLC is free to use and distributed under an open-source license. It includes no spyware, advertisements, or user tracking.
Requires Windows 7+ · Server 2008 R2+ · Architecture: x64
