Alire Portable2.1.1

Alire lets Ada and SPARK developers find, obtain, build, and add reusable libraries to their own applications through the command-line program alr. It provides ready-to-use Ada components and gives projects a consistent way to acquire the code they depend on. Developers can use it while creating new applications or when adding established libraries to an existing Ada codebase.

Alire is designed for userspace, so each project or workspace keeps its dependencies within that development context. Project properties and dependencies are described in a TOML file stored with the local working copy, while the Alire community index maintains the corresponding project files. This arrangement helps developers reproduce the library set associated with a particular project without mixing it with unrelated work.

The Alire Developers publish version 2.1.1 as open-source software for Windows x64. Builds are also available for Linux x86-64 and macOS x86-64, and each of these systems provides recent GNAT FSF Ada compilers, including cross-compilers targeting ARM, RISC-V, and AVR. On other platforms, Alire can be built from source with GNAT FSF version 9.2 or later.

The current release is a maintenance update that fixes bugs and refreshes the MSYS2 installer. Alire suits Ada teams, individual developers, and SPARK programmers who want a central workflow for incorporating reusable libraries and building those libraries alongside their applications.
