Alternote1.0.18

Write and organize notes on a Mac while keeping them synchronized through Evernote with Alternote, an alternative Evernote client built around focused text creation. It is a good fit for Evernote users who collect information, develop ideas, or record feelings and memories, while continuing to use Evernote’s mobile apps and web clippers alongside it. Notes remain connected to the Evernote backend, and Alternote places no Alternote server between the Mac and that service.

Search begins as soon as you open the app and finds matches in note titles and contents while you type; you can also search within a particular note. A distraction-free mode dims the interface during typing, while hiding the sidebar can reduce the view to a single line of notes. WYSIWYG formatting appears when text is selected, and controls cover font size, line height, night mode, color schemes, sidebar backgrounds, and six selected background images.

Retina support and smooth scrolling are designed to remain comfortable with long notes, and the app includes trash and note restoration. Markdown entities currently expand into rich text, while full Markdown syntax, including code snippets and tables, was planned for version 2.0. Alternote deliberately does not reproduce Evernote features such as reminders, work chat, or presentation mode, and Evernote shortcuts are unavailable because Evernote does not expose them to developers.

Version 1.0.18,1018 is freeware for macOS on Intel and Apple Silicon. Its synchronization is built exclusively around Evernote rather than iCloud or Dropbox, and Alternote is not an iOS app.
