You can also make task lists, build databases, and use chats, choosing a format that fits the information you are handling. Its local-first design keeps your data on your device, where you retain ownership of it. End-to-end encryption protects note content, while the developer presents the workspace as accessible only to you.

The app suits writers, researchers, planners, and anyone managing private information across notes, tasks, structured records, and conversations. Typical uses include drafting text, maintaining a personal journal, tracking project work, or pairing a database with supporting notes. Chats provide a conversational way to work with the same collection of personal material.

Anytype runs on macOS 12 Monterey or later and requires Apple Silicon hardware using the arm64 architecture. It is freeware, and the current beta version is 0.57.4. As a Reading & Writing application, it brings encrypted note-taking together with local storage and several types of personal information.
