Altova Authentic lets business users create and edit structured XML documents through a WYSIWYG, forms-based editor instead of working directly with code. Its document templates present XML content using familiar conventions from business forms and office productivity software, while keeping the underlying XML or relational database technology out of view. This makes it suited to non-technical authors who need to query, create, and maintain enterprise content in a controlled structure.

The graphical workspace includes project-management panes, message windows, and intelligent entry helpers to guide authoring. Real-time input checks combine schema rules with business-logic validation, and customizable templates can enforce demanding content-editing requirements. A multilingual spell checker supports more than 100 languages, while support for content-industry standards helps teams work within established publishing processes.

Authentic can edit XML or database content directly, supports SQL databases for content storage, and connects with leading content management systems. Users can also access remote files through FTP and WebDAV. StyleVision-created stylesheet designs control how XML structure and sequence appear in the forms, and the resulting content can be rendered as HTML, RTF, PDF, or Word documents in Office Open XML format. CALS/HTML tables are supported, including their hierarchical XML structure, formatting definitions, and cell content.

Altova Authentic 2024 Enterprise Edition runs on Windows x64 and is intended for business departments, documentation teams, and other organizations that need structured authoring without requiring every contributor to understand XML. The current version is 2024.02.01.
