About

Create application architectures visually in UML, turning requirements and design ideas into organized models that can guide implementation. From those models, generate Java, C++, C#, or Visual Basic .NET source code and produce project documentation. For an existing codebase, reverse engineer the source into UML diagrams, refine the design, and regenerate the implementation to complete a round-trip engineering cycle.

Altova UModel supports all 14 UML 2.5 diagram types, along with database models, UML-style diagrams for XML Schemas, and table diagrams for popular SQL databases. It also covers all nine SysML diagram types and supports business process modeling with BPMN. Source-code engineering is complemented by XMI model interchange, allowing models to be exchanged in a standard form between compatible modeling tools.

Diagram editors provide dedicated toolbars, color-coded icons, entry helpers, and fast editing controls, while users can customize element size, placement, colors, typefaces, and line styles. Software architects, developers, analysts, and development teams can use it to define requirements, document systems, model databases or processes, and modernize existing applications.

Altova UModel 2026 Professional Edition runs on Windows x64 systems and is published by Altova as version 2026.02.00. The 2026 release updates database support and introduces additional new features for modeling work.
