Anonymous Messenger0.9.2

Send text, voice messages, media, and raw files directly to another person with Anonymous Messenger, using a peer-to-peer design built around hidden services. It protects conversations with double-triple Diffie-Hellman end-to-end encryption, cryptographic identity verification, and network security protections. Media messages have their metadata stripped, while raw file transfers support files of any size, including 100 GB and beyond.

Both peers must add each other’s onion addresses before communication can begin. Disappearing messages are enabled by default, and encrypted file storage keeps shared content protected on the device alongside screen security. Text chat and voice messages support private everyday exchanges, while live voice calls over Tor are available as an alpha feature.

The software suits people who need direct, privacy-focused communication with explicit control over who can contact them. Anonymous Messenger is open-source software with Android as its sole platform; by December 2020, it was fully functional while still an ongoing effort. The project began in July 2020, when Sofian Mahmoud Benissa developed the idea after a series of meetings with project funder Alton James Steele.
