Archiver opens RAR, Zip, 7Zip, and other archive files on a Mac, while compressing files and folders to reduce their size. It can divide a large file into pieces of any chosen size, optionally compress those pieces, and combine them again when required. Dragging files into the app creates an archive, and dropping several archives onto it extracts them in parallel.

QuickLook lets you inspect an archive’s contents without unpacking everything, then extract only the files you select. Compression controls include the level used, the destination folder, and automatic removal of an archive after extraction. Sensitive material can be stored in AES-256-encrypted, password-protected archives. Split files can also be checksummed, adding a way to verify the resulting parts.

Supported formats include Zip and WinZip (.zip), RAR and WinRAR (.rar, .r00), 7zip (.7z, .7z.001, .7z.002 and similar parts), Tar Gzip (.tar.gz, .tgz), Tar Bzip2 (.tar.bz2, .tbz), Amiga Disk File (.adf, .adz), and Amiga LhF (.f, .F). It suits Mac users handling downloaded archives, freeing disk space, preparing files for a disk or email transfer, or protecting private data.

Archiver is freeware in the System Tools category for macOS 26 Tahoe and later, with native support for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. The current 5.0.11 release carries Archiver 5’s refreshed interface, quick preview, and faster workflow, with a design intended for Liquid Glass on Tahoe; the product has been built for Mac since 2009.
