About
Bavarder lets you type a question to an AI assistant running locally and read the response directly on your Linux desktop. Enter a prompt, submit it, and continue with follow-up questions in the same conversational interface. It suits Linux users who want quick exchanges with an AI assistant while handling everyday desktop tasks.
The program is centered on informal, text-based conversation, making it useful for short questions, idea exploration, and casual back-and-forth dialogue. Its name comes from the French word for talking at length about matters of little importance, commonly translated as “chit-chat,” which reflects this relaxed approach. The project can be translated through Codeberg Translate, and the GNOME Code of Conduct applies to its development.
Version 1.0.0 is published by Soumyadeep Ghosh and runs on Linux systems with snapd. It targets x86_64 hardware, also known as amd64. Bavarder is open-source software, intended for use within that Linux desktop environment.
Requires Linux + snapd · Architecture: x86_64 (amd64)
