BibDesk1.9.13

BibDesk lets you edit and organize bibliography records while keeping each publication’s files and web links alongside its citation data. Use its publication editor to add publication types, abstracts, local PDFs or other files, and associated web pages, then drag those items from Finder or a browser into the preview panel. It can automatically move and rename attached files, giving related research material a managed home.

A source list brings together groups, smart groups, shared BibDesk libraries on your network, and web pages such as PubMed or direct queries of online bibliography resources. BibDesk’s built-in browser can inspect Google Scholar, arXiv, and HubMed, detect bibliographic references on their pages, and import them into the database with one click. Typing in the search field filters the entire bibliography immediately, while advanced search can examine the full text of associated PDFs. Smart groups can stay focused on publications matching chosen keywords.

Import tools accept simple text, BibTeX, and RIS files, including files obtained from scientific websites, and can also extract citation data from online resources or access library and other publication catalogues directly. Export features help share and publish records in standard bibliographic formats, while BibDesk services connect the bibliography to other applications and are especially useful in LaTeX workflows. Researchers, students, and writers can use it for literature reviews, paper preparation, and maintaining personal or collaborative reference collections. BibDesk 1.9.13 runs on macOS 10.13 and later on Intel or Apple Silicon Macs and is distributed as freeware from an open-source project.
