Brainstonz for Android lets two players place stones on a board while trying to complete a line of four in a row, column, or diagonal before the opponent. It supports a human-versus-human match, a game against the computer, or a computer-versus-computer display for watching the strategy unfold. Before play begins, controls on the right side let you choose each player’s type and, for computer players, set the artificial-intelligence skill level.

Black moves first and places one stone anywhere on the board. White’s first turn allows two placements, and completing a matching pair of symbols can remove one of Black’s stones. After that, each turn begins with one placement; if its board symbol matches a symbol beneath one of the current player’s other stones, an opposing stone must be removed immediately, followed by a second placement that can trigger another removal when it completes a second pair.

The game ends when someone fills a four-stone line or when the player to move has no legal move, producing a tie. Its combination of placement, symbol matching, forced captures, and adjustable computer play suits friends sharing a device as well as solo players practicing tactics; the hardest computer setting is presented as impossible to beat.
