Bright VPN1.605.415

Bright VPN encrypts a Mac’s internet connection, hides its real IP address and location, and helps protect messages and online activity from being read by others. It can unblock websites from more than 150 countries, helping users get around regional restrictions and censorship while browsing. The connection uses IKEv2, a VPN protocol developed by Microsoft and Cisco that manages authentication and secure communication through Internet Protocol Security.

The app includes a “What is my IP?” tool that displays the current public IP address, geographic location, and Internet service provider. Bright Data says Bright VPN does not collect or send personal data, display advertisements, or retain logs of browsing history, traffic destinations, data contents, or DNS queries. The service is funded by Bright Data, which gathers public web information such as prices and flight details for banks, universities, ecommerce companies, and major brands.

Using Bright VPN requires allowing Bright Data to occasionally access public Internet pages through the device; it uses available device resources and is designed not to slow the computer or connection. Mac users can set it up by dragging the app into the Applications folder, then connect for private browsing on public networks, during travel, or when accessing restricted pages. The freeware edition is available for macOS on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, and the current version is 1.605.415.
