Browse Gemini pages on an Android phone with Buran, following links and moving through geminispace from a deliberately simple interface. It is a Gemini protocol browser in the Internet & Browsers category, aimed at reading and navigating sites that use this alternative web protocol.

Buran renders images within pages, can show links as buttons, and provides a simple A/B page-switching system for moving between two pages. Users can define an HTTPS gateway when access to Gemini content is mediated through one. For client-authenticated services, its built-in utility creates and manages client certificates through a keystore generator and catalog.

Access can be protected with a password or biometric authentication, while a color-palette interface lets users choose background and accent colors. English and French localization accompany accessibility and other quality-of-life features, and the app uses JetBrains Mono for code blocks and Material Icons for its interface glyphs.

Version 1.12 fixes broken direct HTTP links and restores the back button’s behavior. Buran is open-source, runs on Android 5.0 or later with Universal architecture, and uses only default system libraries without external dependencies or nonfree services. It is based on Ariane by ÖLAB, with that fork permitted under the European Union Public Licence.
